  MOORESVILLE, NC (July 7, 2009) - In an effort to race his way into the top 10 in driver standings, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Michael McDowell announced today that he has signed with MacDonald Motorsports to pilot the No. 81 Dodge Charger entry in the next two Nationwide Series races at Chicagoland Speedway and Gateway International Raceway. McDowell currently sits 11th in driver standings, just three points shy of 10th place.
  
  McDowell, whose No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing entry is in search of additional sponsorship funding to return to the track, also is looking to get MacDonald into the top 20 in ownership points.
  
  "It's a win-win situation for both of us," said McDowell, a 24-year-old native of Phoenix, Ariz. "While JTG seeks the funding to continue our strong season, I hope to deliver great results for MacDonald Motorsports and give the No. 81 team a boost into the top 20."
  
  McDowell brings NASCAR Sprint Cup experience to MacDonald Motorsports, earning six Rookie of the Race honors in 20 starts during the 2008 season. The 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie of the Year quickly rose through the NASCAR ranks after getting his start in open-wheel racing, which included the 2004 Star Mazda Series championship and a stint on the now-defunct Champ Car World Series.
  
  After 17 starts, McDowell's highlights this season include 11 top 15 finishes in the No. 47 car, including three finishes in the top 10. His best finish is sixth at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

  Michael McDowell took Thursday to welcome home over 1,500 troops in the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, KY. McDowell signed autographs and talked with troops about their deployment.
  
  "It was humbling to hear the experiences from hard-working men and women that protect our freedom. It makes you really appreciate the opportunity to battle 43 drivers on Saturday," McDowell said.
  
  McDowell will be battling a bit of a monkey on his back here in Nashville. Two starts in the ARCA RE/MAX Series earned McDowell one pole, but a tire failure and an engine failure resulted in DNFs. McDowell hopes this weekend will result a little differently.
  
  "The team and I are very anxious to try our brand new Triad car this weekend. Our Arrington Toyota Engines have been great and I feel that we have a great shot at a top-five this weekend," McDowell said.

  McDowell and the No. 2 Z-Line Designs / Make-A-Wish / Beck Dodge will venture to Winchester Speedway in Indiana for this Sunday's Winchester ARCA 200, the sixth race of the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season.
  
  For Winchester, ESR brings the very chassis that McDowell drove to a pole and 3rd place finish two weeks ago at Salem Speedway.After last week's 11th place finish at Kansas, the team sits in the top-five in point standings and is hoping to continue that ascent.
  
  McDowell, who makes his first career start on the Indiana half-mile track, likes his chances for not only a good points day, but also a victory:

  NEWTON, Iowa (August 1, 2009) - The NASCAR Nationwide Series' first venture to Iowa Speedway was also Michael McDowell's first outing with the K-Automotive Racing team. Both proved to be successful.
  
  In front of a sellout crowd in Newton, Iowa, McDowell piloted his No. 26 Fischer Honda Dodge to an eighth-place finish after starting ninth in Saturday's U.S. Cellular 250.
  
  For McDowell, the finish wasn't just another Raybestos Rookie of the Race clincher, but a testament to the work hard done by the K-Automotive team.
  
  "This team did a tremendous job this weekend. They gave me a good opportunity to come in and compete. It was a good points day for me and a good points day for the 26 car, so we really helped each other out today," said McDowell.
